FCMS Students of the Month announced

Chosen as March Falls City Middle School Students of the Month are, left to right, Jacy Lewis, Amie Wiltse, and Levi Hitchcock.
The students of the month for March at Falls City Middle School were Jacy Lewis, eighth grade; Amie Wiltse, seventh grade; and Levi Hitchcock, sixth grade. Each pupil received a T-shirt printed with the Student of the Month logo. The shirts are compliments of Stripes and Signs. The Elks Club will sponsor a complimentary meal during Youth Week for all this year’s student of the month recipients and their parents.
Levi Hitchcock is the sixth grade student of the month for March. He is the son of Philip and Stormy Hitchcock. His teachers say that he is a good kid and he works well with other students. Levi has a positive attitude and is friendly and polite to everyone who he meets. He is a reliable and responsible student. Levi says the best things about middle school are the teachers and being with friends. His favorite class is social studies.
When not in school activities, Levi is a member of the Verdon Christian Church and participates in baseball and scouting. His summer baseball team placed second in the league. He also enjoys tractor pulls and demolition derby competitions. Levi’s favorite food is pizza.
Amie Wiltse is the seventh grade student of the month for March. She is the daughter of Terry and Jennifer Wiltse. Her teachers report that Amie works hard on her studies and is a positive role model for her peers. Amie says the best thing about middle school is that all the teachers take the time needed to help students understand. Amie’s favorite class is math. She continues to be on the honor roll and ABBIT lists. Amie participates in volleyball, basketball, and track.
Beyond school, Amie participates in Travelers softball and basketball, 4-H, church, and archery. She has received a Drug Awareness Art Award, a first place finish in state archery competition, and a silver medal finish with a market steer. Amie’s favorite food is chili with a cinnamon roll.
Jacy Lewis is the eighth grade student of the month for March. She is the daughter of David and Angie Lewis. Jacy is described as a wonderful student who works diligently and always strives to do her best. She is always pleasant to be around. Jacy enjoys being with her friends throughout the school day. Her favorite classes are science and art. Jacy is active in quiz bowl, volleyball, basketball, track, band, and chorus. She is on the honor roll and ABBIT lists.
Away from school, Jacy is active in the Falls City Swim Team, soccer, and club volleyball. Jacy’s favorite food is pizza.
The students who received honorable mention for March include Brittany Ritter, Allyson Scholl, Dakota Butrick, Shelby Hoppe, Sloan Roseberry, and Jayme Schwarting.
To receive Student of the Month, students must first be nominated by one of their teachers. The criteria for nomination includes citizenship, role model, leadership, noteworthy deeds, grades or grade improvement, attendance, school achievements and outside-of-school recognition. All teachers read through the nomination forms after they have been submitted. On the day of voting for Student of the Month, the teachers meet before school. Teachers who have comments about those nominated are asked to contribute. The teachers then vote by private balloting. To win Student of the Month, one student must receive a majority of the votes. Those who don’t win are given honorable mention and are eligible in future months.
