Liberty breaks scoring record

Senior Mitch Liberty takes the shot that broke the career scoring record during the Class C-1 Subdistricts.
On February 19, 2008, Mitch Liberty made history. He erased a 45-year old record. During the Johnson County Central game in the Class C-1 Subdistricts at Johnson-Brock, Mitch took a basketball shot that gave him 1042 points. It broke the career scoring record that Ernie Strasil–1040 points in his career–had held since 1963.
Commenting on Mitch's record, Head Basketball Coach Don Hogue said, "I'm very proud of Mitch's accomplishments and his drive the past four years. He has been a big part of this turnaround in basketball." Coach Hogue add, "He has also had great teammates to contribute to his success."
