von Behren places first; Ernst takes third
during Peru State College math challenge

The Falls City High School team that participated in the Greater Southeast Nebraska Math Challenge are, First Row–Deric Elliot, Krista Kopf, Hannah Thompson, Danelle Johnson, Amy Dunn, and Rachel Stevens; Second Row–Jesse Weinert, Trent Scheitel, Logan Faller, Tim von Behren, Zach Ernst, and Trevor Harling.
On Friday, February 22, Falls City High School students participated in the Greater Southeast Nebraska Math Challenge. Junior Tim von Behren took first place in the Division I Precalculus test. Sophomore Zach Ernst finished third in the Algebra II test. The Algebra team of Amy Dunn, Trent Scheitel, and Zach Ernst finished second overall, helped by Zach's placing in the Algebra II test.
The Math Challenge was held at Peru State College. Thirteen schools attended, bringing about 120 students to compete. They participated in individual tests, a team problem solving test, and a quiz bowl. The four categories were Calculus, PreCalculus, Algebra, and Geometry.
The teams were sponsored by FCHS math teachers Norma Thompson and Jason Vitosh.
