Portfolio Review Team assesses process

On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, a Math Portfolio Reveiw visit was held at the Falls City High School library. The Falls City Public Schools Math Portfolio Committee presented their standards and assessment process to two reviewers representing the Nebraska Department of Education. Cyndi Rotter-Hansen from Battle Creek and Teresa Osborn from Cozad
spent the day in Falls City. They reviewed and evaluated the District’s Math Assessment documentation of the learning processes that are implemented throughout the District. The State Department of Education will then review their findings and determine a rating for District 56.

This is the second year the portfilio review visit has determined a rating for Falls City Public Schools. Last year, a reading portfolio review team graded the district's assessment process. Grades 4, 8 and 11 all received exemplary ratings in 2007. The review visit has replaced the submission of a written portfolio to the State of Nebraska Department of Education. South School Principal Rita Johansen is in charge of the assessment process for the Falls City Public Schools.
