News Bowl is a current events education quiz game curriculum that is used by K-12 teachers who want to have fun with students in the classroom and at the same time promote quality lifelong learning education! The goal of the News Bowl program is to motivate young people to be interested in the news of the day, thus developing future voters and future civic leaders. When successfully implemented, News Bowl produces self-learning by the students because an interested and motivated young person is a knowledgeable young person. If young people develop an interest in the news, they will continue their interest as they mature!
News Bowl provides teachers with a national competition in the form of an Online Current Events League. The league is different from the classroom game because the league is a team activity that involves an online test the last week of six different months of the school year. The online league is a 50-multiple choice question contest. News Bowl lists a Top 50 for each grade level. The goal of the online league is to test a team of students about world and national events, encourage them to use cooperative learning skills, compete nationally and have fun with current events!
