Teachers attend SMART Board training

On Saturday, January 12, a SMART Board training was held in the Falls City High School library. Gregg Robke of ESU 4 in Auburn presented the training. Both Falls City Public Schools staff and Falls City Sacred Heart teachers attended the training. Title II Part D grant funds paid for the inservice.

In the morning, the teachers were given a refresher course on the basics of using the SMART Boards. They learned about orienting the interactive white board and utilizing the SMART Board tools. Teachers also learned how to use the eInstruction Classroom Performance System "Clickers" in conjunction with the SMART Board.

The instructor presented information about creating lessons for the white board. Teachers inserted video and graphic clips. They also learned how to turn written information into type using the hand-writing recognition. The attendees explored the internet to find resources that could be used with the SMART Boards.

In the afternoon, the teachers were given time to create lesson plans and SMART Notebook lessons for their classrooms. All of the teachers who attended the training were required to turn in a lesson plan and SMART Notebook pages they created for their students.
