Music students attend contests, clinics

The Vocal Music Department had a busy March. The show choir competed in two contests, the male students attended a workshop, and the underclassmen participated in a clinic.

Applederas Show Choir places at final two competitions
On Saturday, March 15, Applederas Show Choir earned first place at the Viking Cup Competition. The competition was held at Omaha North High School. The show choir also received three superior ratings and placed third overall in the II division at the Northeast Jazz/Show Choir Competition. This contest was held in Norfolk on Wednesday, March 26.

Barbershop Workshop
Male members of the Falls City High School Chorus attended the 7th annual Young Men in Harmony Choir Clinic. The event was held at Norris High School on Monday, March 10. During the clinic, the students learned Barbershop style music. The boys worked on and performed two barbershop pieces at the final concert. Also performing in the concert were Double Wide (Doane College), the Lincoln Continentals, and a national Barbershop quartet.

Freshmore Choir Clinic
On Tuesday, March 4, the freshmen and sophomore choir members participated in the 15th annual Freshmore Choir Clinic. Eleven other area schools also participated in the clinic held at Johnson County Central in Tecumseh. The vocal students worked on six pieces throughout the day and performed a final concert that evening.
